The German Personal Construct Psychology Group (Deutsche
Arbeitsgruppe zur Psychologie der Persönlichen Konstrukte - DPPK)
is devoted to the Psychology
of Personal Constructs founded by George Kelly in 1955 and the
application of his Repertory Grid Technique in areas as diverse as
clinical psychology, business and management, education, and religion.
Established in 1984 as "German Grid Group", it bears its current name
since 1995. Conveners are Prof. Jörn Scheer
(Hamburg) and Dr. Ulrike
Willutzki (Bochum). At present, the DPPK has about 40 members. Anyone involved
in the Psychology of Personal Constructs can become a member.
Once in a
year, usually at the end of January or in early February, the German
PC Conference is held. In 1994, the DPPK organised the
2nd Biennial Conference of the European
Personal Conference Association (EPCA), in 1999 the 13th International Congress on
PCP.

The
first
recorded publication dates back to 1972 (Schüffel
& Schonecke). Research
activities have increased considerably during the last couple of
years; the main focus has still been the clinical field but business
applications and the use of PCP in cognitive psychology are developing.
In
academic
teaching, i. e. the training of psychologists, PCP is present only
locally. Clinical
practice based on PCP, as in Kelly´s "Fixed Role Therapy",
has not arrived in Germany yet, other than in the Unites States or the
UK. Given the present system of health care insurance which supports
only psychoanalytic and behaviour therapy, this is not expected to
change.
With academic
qualification of people interested in PCP increasing (i. e., achieving
Ph.D. and post-doc Habilitation degrees) and the graduates subsequently
acquiring senior academic positions, it can be expected that the establishment
and further develoment of PCP within psychology and the other
disciplines involved will progress.
