REGISTRATION AND BOOKINGS

Choices

To register for the conference and book accommodation, you have two choices:

Register for the conference (including meals during the conference)and book accommodation either in the Conference Centre or in places close-by. (Meals include breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner; except on Wednesday afternoon which is free, and the Gala Banquet on Friday to be booked separately).

Register for the conference only (including meals, coffee etc. during the conference) and take care of accommodation yourself (e. g. by booking hotel accommodation or staying with locals).

In both cases, the Gala Banquet (Friday night) and the Trip to Potsdam (Wednesday afternoon) may be booked separately.

Accommodation

Arranged by the Congress Organisers: Since the capacity of the different places is limited, we will allocate rooms in the order of registration. If you have preferences as to options A, B, or C, please indicate them on the booking form.

If you want to share a double room, please name a person you want to share the room with; otherwise we will suggest someone.

If you want to book accommodation yourself (and pay only for registration and meals):

From Berlin Centre (Zoo Station = Bahnhof Zoo) it is 20 min. on the City Rail (= S-Bahn) to Wannsee plus 15 min walk or 5 minutes on a bus. If you go by car, there is a good city freeway connection to the centre (which is called "Avus" and was a well-known race-track in the Thirties) (but beware of the rush hours!).

A very fine alternative is staying in Potsdam, which is only 12 min. on the S-Bahn or a few minutes by car.

For inquiries and bookings, check out these Web Sites:

It is strongly advised to book hotel accommodation as early as possible as Berlin is a most attractive place for business and holidays and after all, it is Germany´s capital city, with most Government institutions, parliament, foreign embassies etc. moving from Bonn to Berlin in 1999!

Special Events

Galah Banquet

The Galah Banquet will be on a boat cruise on Lake Wannsee on Friday night (July 30th).

Trip to Potsdam

Wednesday afternoon will be free. For those who would like to see Potsdam (the capital of the state of Brandenburg) with its Dutch quarter and the splendid palace and park of Sanssouci (of Frederick the Great fame) in the company of other congress participants, we have organised a boat trip (on Wannsee and the Havel river). The tour will start after lunch on Wednesday, July 28th, and finish early enough to allow participants to go to town in downtown Berlin in the evening.
