Abstract
Kelly (1970) described the Experience Cycle as involving phases through
which the experimenting person moves anticipation, investment, encounter,
confirmation / disconfirmation and constructive revision. This paper describes
the development of a methodology using a semi-structured inter-view based
on the phases of the Experience Cycle. Examples of the Experience Cycle
Methodol-ogy (ECM) are provided in qualitative form with reference to adolescent
risk-taking experiences. Future development of the ECM are then discussed.
