Abstract
The present study employed multidimensional scaling (MDS) analysis
of elicited stressful situa-tions and helpful individuals to examine the
dimensions underlying international students’ percep-tions of stressful
experiences. Sixty-three international students provided examples of stressful
experiences for use in a paired comparison procedure completed by an additional
86 Asian international students. The results were analyzed using MDS techniques
and revealed support for three underlying dimensions to described both
family as the most helpful during times of stress. Impli-cations for practice
and directions for future research are discussed.
