Abstract
Sexual offenders have been receiving more therapeutic attention from
forensic clinicians in recent years. Despite a concern and push for more
„cognitive-behavioural“ interventions, however, the range of treatment
types available to sexual offenders remains limited. An assessment and
treat-ment programme for sexual offenders established by the author over
the past several years within the Ontario correctional system was constructed
using a personal construct theoretical frame-work. It included both group
psychotherapy (e.g., problem identification, relapse prevention) and individual
treatment (e.g., fixed-role therapy, covert sensitization) components.
Various facets of the programme will be discribed. Other theoretical formats
inspired by Kelly and relevant for sex-ual offenders will also be explored.
