Creating the Future?

Abstract
As a counsellor for a charity organisation I began to notice that some
clients only attended one counselling session and even though they booked
future sessions did not attend. I then realised that there was a similarity
between this situation and that of training where new expe-riences were
not applied back in the workplace.
This paper explores some of the constructs associated with mapping a
new future and the im-pact on people's self perception. I will present
my theory of "Second No Show" and open up a discussion on methods of avoiding
creating inappropriate future constructs, generating realis-tic anticipations
and grounding the future in reality.
